Founded in 1975, Titan Motorsport & Automotive Engineering has a 40-year history of manufacturing in the UK. The company specializes in manufacturing bespoke components for the automotive, aerospace, marine and defense industries. Titan operates two sites which cover design and engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, assembly, quality, logistics and testing.
Maximizing return on investment and mitigating risk are two critical factors to consider when undergoing ERP implementation. Syspro’s 4D implementation methodology combats the risk of disruption and downtime by focusing on four key stages: defining the project scope, resource needs and timing; designing an effective plan with the customer’s project team; delivering on an on-time, on-budget go-live with a final system walk-through; and deploying the final preparations required for go live.
Titan’s objective of bringing together Syspro, Equator and APS was no easy task, but the Syspro consultants have an excellent grasp of all three applications. Because the implementation plan was built around these applications, the data migration and system integration ran smoothly.
Titan’s project management team worked with the consultants to understand and match the company’s existing business processes to Syspro. By defining the scope of the project beforehand and defining the resource and timing needs of the implementation, everyone involved benefited from a no surprises approach.
To keep business disruption and downtime to a minimum, Syspro calculated a worst-case scenario and identified additional methods to minimize disruption. This included spending more time implementing certain modules, streamlining large similar processes for a faster go-live, and executing a disruption limitation plan.
This thorough approach enabled Titan to put steps in place to limit disruption even further. Prior planning and the post-implementation training process are just as important to achieving a successful on-time, on-budget go-live date, and Syspro ensured Titan was fully prepared.
Product demonstrations were given to staff and everyone understood how the system would add value to the business. Post-implementation services included site visits and usage monitoring to help train Titan staff on how to get the most out of their Syspro investment.
The fully integrated Syspro, APS and Equator solution will help Titan drive growth in its key industries. Already, Titan has a clearer view of financial and HR information as Equator was implemented six months early to be up and running at the start of the new financial year. Syspro’s flexible implementation approach enabled existing processes to become the backbone of the program, rather than using the technology as the foundation.
“It’s not until implementation that you see something as large as ERP in minute detail and understand how it will work for your business. Syspro helped us to imagine the future of the business and foresee the many benefits this ERP system will bring to our company.”
— Mark Martin, Financial Controller, Titan
Titan identified a need to replace its existing Material Requirements Planning software and drive growth in key industries. To achieve these goals, it was necessary to bring together three complex systems: Syspro, Equator HR, and Advanced Planning & Scheduling.
Titan chose Syspro to replace its existing MRP software. Deciding factors included Syspro’s powerful functionality and high levels of flexibility. In addition, Titan elected to combine the Syspro ERP solution with the Equator HR system and Syspro Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS).
