Extract Technology uses SYSPRO’s Quotations Module throughout its aftermarket business, which accounts for 20%-30% of its overall operation. SYSPRO creates the quote and streamlines the entire process through to dispatch and cash collection. This automation has enabled Extract to extend this part of the business and given the sales team more time to concentrate on proactive selling.
With SYSPRO’s Projects & Contracts Module, Extract Technology has access to powerful business intelligence. Contracts can be defined as individual products, providing a complete view of all costs. The company now has more information than it ever had in the past and can quickly identify margins for individual products and therefore the most profitable product lines. Extract is also able to monitor actual costs against anticipated costs throughout the life of a contract.
In addition, the system allows the project engineers to manage contracts in real time. The ability to gain access to and interrogate the information on screen is a huge benefit, as they can see precisely where material is allocated to the contract and can steer jobs in the desired direction to complete the contract.
Prior to implementing SYSPRO, Extract had to rely on manual reporting and cross referencing. Staff had to run various reports and go through them painstakingly. Now, at the press of a button it has access to a visual representation of how costs are tracking, directly in SYSPRO. This level of control was not available before.
Extract Technology constantly develops its use of SYSPRO. The company is currently engaged in a major project that will enable the company to quote on capital equipment directly from SYSPRO. This will enable a seamless passage of information throughout SYSPRO. Extract is prototyping this with its Downflow Booths which contain as many as 200 individual components, plus all the labor required to assemble the product.
The advanced SYSPRO/DataSwitch solution has enabled Grant Instruments to save up to £40,000 a year on inventory costs by automating its entire supply chain. The company is using the solution to servitize its business model and respond more effectively to customers. Grant Instruments has significantly streamlined its stockholding process and slashed its average delivery times from 10 to 5 days.
For Grant Instruments, customer demand does not follow consistent peaks or troughs, making it difficult to source correct levels of raw materials. This led to high material costs and wasted storage space. The company needed to be able to accurately forecast how much storage space as well as the volume of raw materials required.
Grant Instruments selected a SYSPRO solution integrated with DataSwitch, a data manipulation and systems integration tool, as well as Automail, an email automation solution.
