METALtech Saves £200k a Year with Integrated Syspro Solution

Founded in 1979, METALtech is a privately-owned enterprise based in Dundee, Scotland. The company specializes in the fabrication of a wide range of products in mild and stainless steel, aluminum and other non-ferrous metals across many sectors, including construction.

METALtech has scaled up its Syspro solution in multiple phases, enabling it to evolve into a central, critical business application. The aim was to replace its existing financials software with the relevant modules implemented into the company’s ERP system and this was done within six months.

Equator HR software was integrated into the solution, enabling METALtech to reduce its downtime by up to 10% over 24 months. Equator is used to measure staff productivity. Clocking-in information is sent to Equator and used by management to analyze the hours staff spend working on a job and to calculate any wasted working hours. As a result, productivity has flourished and unproductive timescales have reduced from 25% to 15%.

An Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) system was also integrated into Syspro, enabling METALtech to make further efficiency improvements and increase its on-time delivery rate from 80% to 90%. The system looks at how many hours are available for each job, enabling more realistic timescales to complete each job and significantly improving customer service.

METALtech regularly upgrades its Syspro solution and each upgrade has been seamless and non-disruptive to the business. The company works with Syspro to ensure its data is frequently and securely backed up to the cloud. This means that even if the internet connection is lost there is no impact on customers. METALtech also benefits from SQL backups 10 times a day.

METALtech’s positive experience with the Syspro solution and support has seen the company welcome other organizations to its 45,000 square feet factory in Somerset to demonstrate how invaluable Syspro has become to its everyday operations.

The Outcome

METALtech is saving an average of £200,000 a year by slashing the time saved on administration duties by 40%. The company has also reported savings in cost and time. Syspro has supported a period of impressive growth for METALtech, which has risen from a £5 million turnover firm to a £7 million operation. This has been accomplished without extra staff as Syspro has been able to absorb the bulk of the extra work and resources required.
