After attending a Syspro workshop, Bensons’ management team realized the potential to use Syspro to much greater effect. A gap analysis exercise identified key areas for improvement, including the outdated and unsupported retail finance system. Today, Bensons is benefiting from the transformative powers of Syspro as well as the system’s integration with DataSwitch and DocuWare.
The IT team is reliant on DataSwitch to allow its disparate systems to exchange data effectively. For example, the retail team uses DataSwitch to feed sales orders, payments and GRNs into Syspro to generate accounts. The team used its in-depth knowledge of Syspro and DataSwitch to succeed with the retail project, where the solution was indispensable.
Looking ahead, Bensons plans to continue finding new ways to exploit Syspro’s capabilities. This will include helping the manufacturing division make more of its ERP system to enjoy even greater benefits, and moving away from time-consuming in-house development work.
The upgrade to Syspro 8 also allows Bensons to benefit from partner solutions such as mobile solutions from TransLution. These systems enable businesses to streamline tasks like physical inventory counts, purchase order receiving, job issues, inventory movements and sales order picking, all using handheld devices or desktop PCs.
There is also potential to migrate more areas of the business, including the property division, onto Syspro.
